To us, tablets are a crazy-smart buy.
They’re amazing value in electronics and we absolutely love them.
Tablets are an especially wise purchase for families and people with multi-tasking, complicated lives. Tablets can organize your house, your family and your job, like nothing else.
Except maybe for a guy name Jeeves. But he’s a lot more expensive.
Here’s 12 simple reasons we think tablets are GREAT:
- They’re more economical than phones or computers so you get a lot of bang for your buck.
- If a tablet breaks, is lost, or stolen…you won’t need a second job to replace it. You can score an excellent Tablet here.
- They sync with other electronics and saves wear and tear on the expensive computer sitting on your desk. Take your tablet anywhere and everywhere!
- They’re great travel companions with amazing media, gaming, and reader abilities.
- Their battery life rocks compared to a computer.
- They keep us organized and in the loop.
- With the right apps, they economically convert into a plethora of other devices.
- They’re easy to transport.
STILL don’t believe us?
Here’s 12 SMART ways to use your tablet.
1. Remote controls.
You can download apps to a tablet to control your home, your home theater, your music, and your children. Just kidding about the children. But you can download apps keep track of them, their location, or even monitor what they’re receiving on their phones. Then keep that tablet at your side like a TV remote.
Tablets are high-tech controllers.
(add a tablet remote control holder or this chic organizer for ease of handling)
2. Safe guard your computer.
If you have a pricy computer and want to relish it for the more important things, use a tablet. Tablets are great for surfing, watching Netflix, movies, gaming, and music. It’s like riding your bike instead of putting miles on your Lamborghini.
3. Great for Taking Notes And Organization
Tablets are great way to take notes and file them. Great for school, classes, meetings, work, and projects of all sorts. You can save your notes and file. Or share! They’re your miniature filing cabinets. As inexpensive as they are, you can have one for every project.

4. Easier to cuddle with.
Sure. You can also take your computer to beddie-by-time, but it overheats, smothered in sheets which slashes life expectancy. You can buy a laptop tray the for bed, but that’s also bulky. Better to invite a slick, good looking tablet to bed instead. And, they’re a much cheaper date too.
Just to prove we’re not crazy, see the bed stands make it oh-so-comfy.
5. Use as your additional screen.
Hook your tablet to your computer as a second Monitor. When I’m writing, it’s hard to switch back and forth between open pages. When I need to research something, check mail, or make a call, I use my tablet instead. I’m able to keep it open for reference and screen shots. I also hook my tablet to my computer as a second screen too.
Get a prop up and stand.
6. All Purpose Reader on Steroids
Download apps such as Kindle, iOS News Stand, Google Play Magazine, Pocket, comic book readers, Pocket, and more. You can snuggle up with a good tablet every night.
7. Custom Car Dashboard
The newest navigation systems have nothing on you! Mount your tablet on the dashboard and you have navigation, music, traffic updates, and voice activation with the right tablet. Or, improve on the navigational system you already have with the advanced abilities of a tablet.
1. Good inexpensive stand
8. Car TV
Down load some movies or documentaries to entertain the kids on trips. With a few gadgets they hang easily from the back of the headrests. Bluetooth with some speakers and you have a mini-theater. Use them as inexpensive learning tools on laps too. Art, language, books, you name it.
9. The Cheaper Tablets are great for meetings, service, or projects.
At $40.00 a pop, you can dedicate one tablet for just one purpose. One tablet for meetings. One tablet for the kids. (school year projects, schedule of lunches, appointments, clothing needs, etc). One tablet for shopping, recipes, appointments, goals…Whatever. Say you want to remodel the kitchen, bathroom, or back yard. Dedicate a tablet just for that. All your research, needs, and ideas are in one place. Keep them in specific locations and just watch how much time you save!
10. Tablets are a walking Media and Gaming Center.
Certain apps and accessories will help you convert your tablet into all the entertainment you need anytime, anywhere. You can hook it up to a 50 inch big screen TV at Bud’s house and watch as many of YOUR movies as you want. Share games!
11. Tablets make the BEST travel companions.
Most TSA lines don’t require that you remove your tablet in security lines. Their LONG battery allows their use without needing frequent plug-ins. They’re sleek and fit easily in your back pack. The screen is great for watching movies, gaming, or reading.
Use a strap holder.
12. Tablets are the cheapest computer you’ll ever buy.
Add a keyboard, and you have yourself a computer. They’re great at starting kids economically on electronics so they can increase learning capabilities. Buy a good protector and you’re good to go.
Great as an inexpensive teaching device.

Thanks for the support Abigail! I agree!
I have 2 tablets, 1 for me and m1 for my daughter. God knows where we would be without ours.
Thanks London. I’m putting an article together about tablets and kids too!
I love my tablet. In fact I need to get a new one. Mine is not charging well. I agree with you, tablets are super versatile and wonderful to own. Perfect for everyone, regardless the age.
Thanks Wanda. I’ve used a Samsung for three years and it’s just NOW losing a charge too. Sad to replace it but I have to!
This is a great a post. Full of awesome tips!
Thanks Stephanie! Glad you found it helpful.
I lost my tablet when i was traveling this summer so I need a new one. I like these idea to improve your life when you have a tablet.
Aw Kiwi, sad to hear! But the one great thing is that they’re inexpensive to replace (unless you own an I-pad). I use a cheaper tablet to travel with. You might try that!
I do love my tablet, I have to admit. It’s such an amazing invention and it really cuts down on the clutter for the house. I mostly use my tablet for my daughter, though.
Thanks for the input Rikki! They’re definitely great for kids!
It’s quite sad if I have to cuddle with my tablet. Lol! But I do love my tablet and can cuddle with it. haha
Devyani lol. I cuddle with mine too. Netflix!
We have two tablets but mostly we use our phones. But tablets are really good when you need to travel with kids:P
Thanks for the reply Ohmummymia. I like the bigger screen on the tablet especially for watching programs during travel. But I use the phone when I have no other option!
Hahaha! Coming up with a way to better cuddle with my computer would be kind of fun. Although some part of me feels like I need to find a way to stay away from it more.
Funny David! It’s true. These electronics do become a bit addicting…
I’ve been thinking about getting a tablet. To take with me on trips, its compact and functional to write blogs.
Thanks for commenting Stacey. I love traveling with a tablet. You don’t need to remove it at security checkpoints and it has a much LONGER battery life. It’s so inexpensive to try. If you like it, move to a more expensive tablet. It was hard at first, but I’ve learned to type on a tablet. Works great for me.
I am obsessed with my tablet! It is basically the lightest laptop you can get!
We’re birds of a feather Sam!
A tablet can be so multi-functional! I used mine for taking notes hich was easier than carrying the laptop everywhere before it spoilt. Planning to get another one!
Hi Darlene! I’ve been using a Samsung for 3 years now. Extensively. Although the fire, and RCA’s are cheap and durable.
I have a tablet and you listed so many more options for them than I realized they can do. I think I’m a little behind.
Actually, they were just a few ideas. There’s so many ways you can use a tablet as a cheap replacement for other devices. Thanks for commenting Brittany.
I bought a tablet years ago and somehow it became my child’s toy. I can’t get away from my planner. Something about writing in it makes things so much easier for me.
It became your child’s to because it was a fairly inexpensive loss. That’s my favorite thing about a tablet. It costs more to go out for a cheap meal than it does to buy a tablet. But you’re right! We write in a way that works best for each of us. I prefer a computer for writing but use my tablet when on the road or traveling. I love it.
Tablet can be used in a different way. Mine, I use it for a presentation for my business.
Jack, they’re great for that! Thanks for your comment and suggestion.
I’ll have to keep these ideas in mind. I do love tablets, that’s for sure. I’m on one often, and it comes in handy.
Amber thanks for the comment! I use my more expensive Samsung for nearly everything, but I have a group of Fire tablets I use for extra things. Dedicated to certain projects. It’s a great organizer.
Tablets have larger displays that give you more real estate to get real work done. In fact, with larger tablets the display is on par with smaller laptops, allowing you to get more done.
Monidipa! Thanks for bringing out that point! I cannot work well on a phone. Only when I’m cornered. I always pull out my tablet instead.
So cool all of the things we can do with our tablets. I have a Surface and love it!
Evelyn, A surface outshines a computer in my opinion. No comparison. And other types of Tablets are so inexpensive, you can use them for other jobs (remotes for example) without compromising your surface.
I think I am late to the party since I don’t have a tablet. 8 think you have convinced me to start searching for one.
Joan, just stay home for dinner this weekend and you’ll have a enough cash to be a RCA or a Fire tablet to try it out!
Seriously, my tablet is a lifesaver! I dont know how I ever stayed organized without it! Also, my daughter has one and has learned so much!
Thanks for the input Jessica! They’re great for kids because it doesn’t cost an arm and a leg to replace one.
I use my tablet for so much! They are versatile and really good for so many uses! I like to use it for work as well.
Thanks Jessi! I agree. They do everything! Glad you like yours and thanks for sharing!
