Exercise!
As if you those words aren’t already flashing like a neon light in your face every single day.
And billions of dollars later…people are still sitting like doomed sacs of spuds on the couch.
But why? Exercise is the magical defense for every disease that makes headlines. Cancer, arthritis, Heart conditions, diabetes, dementia, Alzheimer’s.
Plus, exercise is a proven relief for those fighting psychological problems such as depression, anxiety and stress.
BLASTERS!!! No wonder everyone can’t stay quiet about it.
Exercise is a free medicinal aid that helps us live longer.
Not to mention other benefits like not hiding under blankets at the beach or being able to open jars without a team.
So why aren’t we hopping, dancing, running and kick-boxing our tails off? We should be racing to the gym like there’s a bear chasing us!

Exercise is a time-consuming pain. Literally.
After a tough day of work who wants to squeeze into spandex and sweat? It’s not like we need to carry a spear and hunt for dinner. We won’t DIE, if we don’t do it.
Well…
Not yet anyway.
The tough-love-truth?
You…… Must…… Exercise…..
But it’s hard to find the motivation to exercise!
Yes. We get that. So here’s some help.
Our quick mental motivation to exercise (don’t worry we include more later.)
- You’ll really feel better!
- You’ll save thousands in health care costs.
- You’ll live longer.
- You’ll be happier.
- You can belly-show at the beach.
- The people who love you will be grateful.
- Exercise keeps you focused.
Now here’s the secrets to make an exercise routine really happen!
1. Keep exercise NON-NEGOTIABLE.
You don’t skip meals or showers do you? Of course not. At least not enough to be a social outcast. These aren’t negotiable. When something’s optional, we have an out. Don’t give yourself excuses.
If you have a family that depends on you; if you want to improve your quality of life, your mental and emotional health…
Fitness isn’t an elective.
2. Don’t be that guy.
You know. The one who starts an exercise program because he’s at a life or death cross-road with blood pressure, heart disease, diabetes or chronic depression.
Be pro-active, not reactive.
3. KNOWLEDGE HELPS! Use it.
Like…guess what?
New findings suggest that you don’t have to be a victim of Mom and Dad’s DNA!
What does this mean?
If obesity runs in the fam, or you come from a long line of sports dodgers, you can change everything. Chose a new pattern for yourself and set an example for the kids.
In short…Scientific findings show there are no excuses. Not anymore.
From the MAYO Clinic:
“Exercise may also benefit the body in ways we can’t see: deep within our cells.” Evidence is showing that even our DNA can be effected by exercise… “a single 20-minute workout appears to help tune-up DNA, allowing muscles to work better and more efficiently,” according to a recent study published in Cell Metabolism.
A study published in PLos Medicine:
“People who are genetically predisposed to obesity can trump their DNA by exercising for about 30 minutes five days a week.”
(Great! So Dad’s chicken legs have no hold on you! Go for calves the size of melons!)
4. GOOD NEWS! ANY FORM OF EXERCISE WILL DO
MAYO Clinic:
“Exercise in almost any form can act as a stress reliever…and distract you from daily worries… Physical activity helps bump up the production of your brain’s feel-good neurotransmitters, called endorphins.”
(Woohoo! Who doesn’t love endorphins?)
5. IT WILL GIVE YOU CALM AND CLARITY and SELF CONFIDENCE
MAYO Clinic:
“As you begin to regularly shed your daily tensions through movement and physical activity…it can help you remain calm and clear in everything you do….”
“It improves your mood…can increase self-confidence…can relax you, and it can lower the symptoms associated with mild depression and anxiety”
Now, you might be thinking…
“I get it mentally, still, squeezing into spandex is the pits. Any other tips to help?”
Glad we finally have your attention!
Yes we do!

Thank you John. Exercising isn’t easy, but at the same time, it does so much to keep us focused and productive.
Without a doubt, I always feel better when I have made exercise a priority. I like your idea of making it non-negotiable, perhaps that will help me eliminate skip days!
I know! Me too. Such a catch 22. Glad this helps!
I hate exercise! When I start a routine, I give up within 3 days. I just can’t keep it up. I really love your advice about using music; I love it when I sweat while dancing. It feels like I’ve lost a lot of pounds!
I used to exercise without music. But once I had some tunes to help me along, it made the time fly by.
Love, love, love the graphics in this post! Of course the information is quite valuable as well. I definitely need to get off of my backside and get to exercising more. Thanks for the tips!
Shirley! You inspired me to add more graphics! Yes. Put on some music and get exercising!
